1970’s vintage John B. Stetson 3X Beaver felt hat. The \'X\' rating on a Stetson hat historically indicates the percentage of beaver fur used in the felt, contributing to its quality, durability, and water resistance. Size 6 7/8 long oval. Seam above the tag is starting to unravel but is in excellent condition Hat Details Brand and Quality: The hat is identified by the text on the inner leather sweatband as a \"JOHN STETSON 3X BEAVER\" with \"XXX STETSON\" markings visible in gold stamping. Lining Art: The cream-colored satin lining in the crown features an iconic illustration known as \"The Last Drop From His Stetson\". This artwork, commissioned by Stetson in the 1920s, depicts a cowboy kneeling to give his horse a drink of water from his upturned hat, symbolizing the cowboy ethos of compassion and integrity, and has been a hallmark of premium Stetson hats ever since. Material: The hat is made from a fur felt blend, likely incorporating beaver fur, as noted by the \"Beaver\" and \"3X\" designations. Value and Collectibility Vintage Stetson 3X beaver felt hats are considered highly collectible western wear.
