The medium round crown is flat at the top and sits on top of a piece of felt that forms the short brim at the front and sides, and extends at the back creating a \"cupping\" shape to help keep the hat in a tilted position. There is also a hat pin with a felt triangle head, and an elastic hat attached to the inside. Burgundy velvety fabric flowers adorn the front of the crown as well as black veiling. Simply stunning! Tilt hats were popular in the 1930s and 1940s. They were worn at an angle and held to the back of the head by a strap, rigid ring, elastic band beneath the hair, an extended cap, or a combination of these. 30s Fashion certainly seemed fussier than the 1920s with its relentless ornaments of bows, trims and frills. There is no designer label, but a size 23 label is attached. Tilt hats don\'t hug the head, but sit on top, so size is not important. Printed inside the hat: Made in the USA by MERRIMAC.
